Reducing Emissions
Reducing Emissions
The future limits for SOx and NOx emissions require considerable efforts on the part of shipyards and ship operators. A number of scenarios are conceivable:
- the conversion of a large part of the fleet to gasoil operation
- the installation of emission cleaning systems (dry/wet scrubbers)
- from 2016 additional combination with solutions for NOx reduction
- LNG/dual fuel concepts for newbuildings
- other solutions for ships world wide
FSG is facing the challenges early and offering solutions for all eventualities. The illustrations show how different cleaning plants can be integrated.
- Investment and life-cycle cost estimates for the various scenarios, backed by credible data, are essential for the economic success of customers
- individual life cycle cost considerations for conceivable alternative concepts are part of the FSG overall package
- in its draft concepts, FSG takes into account space and investment requirements for emission-reducing measures and the significant influences they exert on ship design.
- new technologies are worked out and integrated jointly with suppliers
- efficient ship designs and propulsion systems are available and adapted to individual customer requirements
- FSG continues to offer customers trustworthy co-operation and individual care after ships have entered service and to adapt vessels to future needs.
